Top envoys overseas assigned to explain Thailand's updated situation

BANGKOK, June 11 (TNA) - Thai ambassadors and consuls-general in 21 countries have been assigned to explain Thailand's updated situation to the countries they have stationed. General Prayuth Chan-ocha, Chief of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), laid down the instruction to 23 Thai ambassadors and consuls-general deployed in 21 countries during a meeting held at the Royal Thai Army headquarters in Bangkok on Wednesday morning. At the meeting, in which 17 executives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated, General Prayuth, who is also Thai Army Chief, thanked the ministry for helping the NCPO explain its necessity to stage a coup on May 22. General Prayuth stressed that the NCPO wants to pave the way for true democracy in Thailand, where checks and balance among the national administration, the legislature and the judiciary can effectively function. General Prayuth acknowledged that export-oriented Thailand wants good relations with other allied economies, together with an amicable honor of national dignity, although it is impossible for all allies to agree with the NCPO's actions. The Thai ambassadors and consuls-general, who met the coup council's chief, include Ambassador to The Hague Virachai Plasai, Ambassador to Germany Nongnuth Phetcharatana, Ambassador to the United States Wichawat Isarabhakdi, Ambassador to France Apichat Chinwanno, Ambassador to Japan Thanatip Upatising and Consul-General to Sydney, Australia, Teerathep Promvongsanon.
