Tourism Minister Surveys COVID Impacts in Phuket

PHUKET, Sept 7 (TNA) – Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn visited the southern tourist island province to survey how the coronavirus disease 2019 is affecting its tourism. He went to Patong sub-district in Krathu district and listened to operators’ opinions on many issues. They included the Phuket Model to welcome foreign tourists, measures to stimulate domestic tours, the adjustment of product and service prices to impress Thai tourists, disease control measures, the “New Normal” characteristics of tourism, the planned quarantine of foreign tourists, and income distribution among operators at all levels. The minister met with representatives of local organizations, businesses and local residents. His ministry planned to increase tourism promotion campaigns to stimulate tourism in Phuket. (TNA)
