Tourism Ministry affirms tourists remain confident in Thailand and its safety

BANGKOK, August 28 (TNA) -- Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports noted that international tourists are still confident in traveling to Thailand and that the ministry has been preparing to launch roadshows, hoping the activities would help draw in more foreign visitors to the country. Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul said despite the recent bomb attack in the heart of the Thai capital, Ratchaprasong Intersection, international tourists have not yet canceled any travel plans to Thailand. Most have remained firm in their desire to visit the country, as they are confident in the safety measures implemented by Thai security agencies, while the generosity shown by the Thai people in helping injured foreigners during the bombing on August 17, has helped to win the hearts of the international community. The minister further revealed that the president of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), whom had recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel located at the Ratchaprasong Intersection, has said that Thailand is safe for travelers and that he would lead another delegation of international media to Thailand ahead of the World Tourism Day, which is scheduled to be held in Bangkok in 2016. The minister said that this shows that foreigners remained to be confident in Thailand and its safety and such point of view could truly benefit the nation by helping to boost tourism. The minister has, additionally informed, that her ministry has planned to organise roadshows in many countries across the world as well, a move targeting to help promote Thai tourism abroad and to attract more international visitors to the country.
