Tourism in Phuket booming during New Year celebrations

PHUKET, Dec 27 (TNA) - About 80 per cent of hotel rooms in Phuket southern resort province has already been booked as Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) office there has joined hands with related agencies in organising the ‘Good-bye Sunset 2015 at Phromthep cape and welcoming the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). Anoma Vongyai, director of TAT Phuket Office, said Phuket is one of the most favourite tourist destinations in Thailand and tourists could spend holidays there any time of the year. During the New Year celebrations, tourists could enjoy the beautiful sunset at Phromthep cape and on December 31, the launching day of AEC, the TAT Phuket Office has cooperated with several concerned agencies in organising the ‘Good-bye Sunset 2015 there, she said. Miss Anoma said the event will be held from 4.30 – 7.00 p.m. on December 31 to promote tourism in the province. Visitors will be entertained with sweet and soft melodies by popular singers along with a photo exhibition, displaying more than 100 paintings from ASEAN member countries and a cultural show. She said her office has projected that about 145,000 tourists would spend holidays during the New Year festival with 3.4 billion baht in circulation. (TNA)
