Tourist Destination Managers Asked To Enliven Asian Games 2018

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra, June 4 (Antara) - The government of South Sumatra has asked all managers of tourist destinations to display the local arts to make the upcoming international sporting event of Asian Games from August 18 to September 2, 2018 more festive. South Sumatra Regional Secretary Nasrun Umar remarked here on Monday that in the province, including the provincial capital of Palembang, there are many tourist attractions that have to be maximize in welcoming the Asian Games. He said that maximizing the tourism destinations, among others things, is through various activities such as displaying arts and cultural areas in the region. According to him, thousands of guest and tourists will arrive in Palembang for Asian Games so they have to be welcomed and entertained as better as possible. The existing tourist attractions, especially in Palembang, for example, should present various art and cultural performances so that when the tourists and the participants of Asian Games arrive, they can be entertained. Previously, South Sumatra Culture and Tourism Office Head Irene Camelyn Sinaga said there are many tourist destinations in Palembang. For in Palembang itself there are dozens to be offered to participants of the sporting event that will be followed by 45 countries. In the meantime, Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi has said that the venues for the 18th Asian Games in Palembang are nearing completion and will be ready well before the event started in August. The government had set June-end as the deadline for all venues to be completed, the minister said after inspecting the venues for sport climbing and shooting in Jakabaring Sport City last Wednesday. "By the end of June at the latest, but I am optimistic the deadline could be reached. At the shooting venue, for example, on June 29 there will be a visit of a technical team of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA)," he said. Imam has inspected the installation of sport climbing panels and ensured that all materials were ready.
