Tourists admire beauty of ‘Thai Sakura Flower’

CHIANG MAI, Jan 17 (TNA) - Tourists have flocked to the Northern Province of Chiang Mai to see Wild Himalayan Cherry trees known among Thais as Phya Suea Khrong which bloom for about two weeks in January every year. Tourists including foreigners travel along the steep road on the mountain which leads to the Agricultural Research Centre in Chiang Mai to admire the beauty of the pink flower which is blooming atop Doi Suthep – Pui National Park. Because of the large crowd during weekend holidays, traffic to the area is heavy due to the narrow road while many vehicle drivers also are not familiar with the route. Officials there have suggested tourists should use local public transportation instead. Many visitors have rented tents and spent the night around the park, so that they could easily view the beauty of flower early in the morning. (TNA)
