Tourists flock to shivering Thai North

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, January 27 (TNA) - Masses of cold air have attracted tourists to wildlife parks and resorts in several northern provinces in Thailand. Temperature atop Doi Ang Kang, known as Thailand’s ‘Little Switzerland’ in Chiang Mai’s Fang district early Sunday dropped to 3 Celsius. Most tourists who were there to view the sun rises had to sit around bonfire to keep them warm. Despite the cool atmosphere, most resorts and rented tents atop Doi Ang Kang were almost fully booked by tourists who braved the cold to view the beautiful scenery and the stunning flowers. In the northernmost province of Chiang Rai, veterinarians have to spray trees and grasses at a wildlife park in Chiang Saen district where thousands of birds escaped from severe cold in southern China and Siberia are staying. The park is a favourite spot for bird watchers during the winter season. (TNA)
