TRAFFIC POLICE TO USE SMART GADGETS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ From now on, traffic offenders will be given printed penalty bills, instead of paying it in cash. Some 400 traffic policemen in the capital city received Friday new smart gadgets that enable them to print penalty bills on the traffic. For buying these devices, 1.8 billion togrog were issued from the PM's 2013 budget. At the ceremony Mr Altankhuyag said this efficient and fair system will cease old practices of hand-written fines and cash payment. The pocked-sized gadget, designed by the contractor Smart Solutions Co, has two main parts as ticket printer and controller that reads any driver licenses, fingerprints and identity cards to see all related records including tax, insurance payment and even recent violations. A printed fine can be paid to any bank within two weeks since its issuing. Officials noted that every driver will be given hundred points to be deducted for every traffic violation, and a driver who finished all his points needs to take drivers’ exam again. Taking long period records about driver’s traffic behavior, the new gadget makes it possible to detect habitual traffic offenders, believes the traffic police.
