Transferring luggage time at Thailand's Suvarnabhumi Airport quickened

BANGKOK, 15 November (TNA) - Thailand's Suvarnabhumi International Airport has reduced its transferring luggage time for a passenger plane to 60 minutes, from 75 minutes earlier, after its new Transfer Baggage Terminal (TBT) has been opened for services since November 1, 2014. Suvarnabhumi International Airport Director Prapon Pattamakitsakul told journalists of the update on Saturday, noting that there are now 13,000 baggage per day on average for international passengers departing the Suvarnabhumi Airport for their overseas destinations. Prapon acknowledged that the reduced time on transferring luggage for one aircraft helps boost the competitiveness of the Suvarnabhumi International Airport with other international airports. According to the director, the two-storey TBT building, with its total area of about 12,550 square metres, is situated above the Suvarnabhumi Airport's South Airside Tunnel. The director said that the Suvarnabhumi Airport's new TBT shares a similar baggage transferring system as its Main Terminal Building (MTB), as it has also been equipped with luggage X’Ray scanning system and other facilities, while its baggage inspection room has a capacity to transport 66 luggage per minute for passengers changing a flight.
