Transnational drug syndicates arrested

BANGKOK, June 11 (TNA) – Thai police arrested a transnational drug syndicate, swallowing heroin in an attempt to smuggle the illegal drug to Hong Kong. Immigration Police commander Pol Maj Gen Chuchat Thareechat told a press conference that the police nabbed a Nepalese man, identified as Singha Bir Gongbotamang for having 15.5 kg of heroin in his possession at Chiang Mai International Airport. After the arrest, the investigation led to the arrest of six other gang members in Bangkok. They admitted to commit the crime for a few times Gurung Lal, Indian national and Sudarshan Thapa, Nepalese man were arrested at a condominium room in On nut area with heroin-filled capsules, weighing one kilogramme, found in the room. Equipment for filling the capsules was found at the place. The drug is made ready for smugglers to ingest the capsules for transportation to the third country. Other four associates were later arrested nearby. The police have evidence such as financial transaction and contacts through communication devices that all of these seven gang members are linked. The police found that they were hired to ingest the drug, smuggled into Thailand through the northern border and this lot of heroine was destined to Hong Kong. The police are carrying out further investigation to arrest more associates and track down where the heroin came from. (TNA)
