TRIBUTE CEREMONY RUNS FOR CITY'S FOUNDATION STONE

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/A tribute was paid to the Melkhiit monument--the foundation stone of Ulaanbaatar with presence of the chairman of Citizens’ Khural of the city D.Battulga, the Governor and the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar E.Bat-Uul, their deputies, along with the Vice-speaker of parliament M.Enkhbold MP and foreign guests. The Capital city of Mongolia was founded in 1639, when Zanabazar was sainted as the leader of Mongolian Lamaism. Since then, the capital switched its locations 28 times. In 1778, the founding stone of current Ulaanbaatar was erected in Balbals hollow, located in the north of Bodgkhan Mountain, on the bank of the Tuul river and on the Hillside of Fresh Selbe. The Melkhiit monument was built near the founding place of Ulaanbaatar in 1994.
