Tsunami remembrance ceremonies to be held in southern Thailand

BANGKOK, December 25 (TNA) - Remembrance ceremonies will be held on Monday (Dec 26) in Thailand’s southern Phang Nga province to mark the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami that killed several thousand people in the country. The events will take place in Ban Bang Niang village of Khuek Khak subdistrict, where Marine Police Boat 813 was washed ashore by the tsunami and in Ban Nam Khem village of Bang Muang subdistrict, one of the hardest-hit areas. At the events, Bhuddist merit-making and wreaths-laying ceremonies will be organized to commemorate the seventh-year anniversary of the devastating tragedy. Relatives of tsunami victims both Thais and foreigners have reportedly arrived in the province for the remembrance ceremonies. (TNA)
