Tunisia ready to ensure security of Russian tourists - foreign minister

MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. Tourism will be on top of the agenda at the upcoming session of the Russian-Tunisian inter-governmental commission due to take place in Moscow on March 29 - April 1, Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui said on Monday at the meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. "Today we have discussed issues of holding the next session of the Russian-Tunisian inter-governmental commission on trade and economic and scientific and technical cooperation," Jhinaoui said. "In the framework of the session, we will discuss the issues of bilateral agenda. Tourism will be one of the most important topics," he added. "I want to note that we especially value the position of Russia which did not issue a recommendation to Russians not to visit Tunisia because of the terrorist attack last July," Jhinaoui said. "Terrorism is a dangerous international phenomenon, and it knows no borders and does not belong to a certain religion," the Tunisian foreign minister said. "This phenomenon has an impact not only on the countries in the region but also on all other countries as well. Tunisia is also a victim of terrorists as many terrorist attacks were carried out against our country," he went on. Jhinaoui noted that Russia supports Tunisia in its fight against terrorism. "This threat should be fought not alone but by joint efforts," he said. The Tunisian foreign minister invited Russians to visit his country noting that the tourist flow from Russia has decreased. "Tunisia took all necessary measures to ensure security of all foreign tourists," he added. "I want to invite Russians to visit our country as tourists. We are taking all necessary measures to ensure security of life and health of our guests," Jhinaoui concluded. Read more
