Turkey can no longer tolerate Syria bloodshed, foreign minister says

ISTANBUL (A.A) - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Friday that Turkey could no longer tolerate bloodshed in Syria. Davutoglu and Italian Foreign Minister Giulia Terzi di Sant'Agata held a press conference after the 8th Turkish-Italian Forum in Istanbul. "We hope that Syria will respond positively to (decisions of Arab League) and a new process will begin. Syria has to make a decision. Either it will continue its policy of oppressing Syrian people or it will say 'yes' and sign the protocol. Today is a historic day for Syria," he said. The Arab League has set a Friday deadline for Syria to agree to comply or else face sanctions. Davutoglu said that Syria would show whether it had good intention or not with its stance over the initiative by the Arab League, stating that if Syria did not implement protocols, there was a road map for this country agreed by Turkey and Arab League.  "Economy ministers of Arab League will convene on Saturday. Our representative will also be there. We will take steps coordinately. Foreign ministers of Arab League may convene on Sunday. I will attend this meeting," he said. "I want to say clearly we have no more tolerance for the bloodshed in Syria," he added.
