-TURKEY RANKS FOURTH IN WORLD IN FLOUR PRODUCTION



KONYA (A.A) - 02.09.2009 - A professor of economics at the Selcuk University said Wednesday Turkey ranked fourth in the world in flour production after Kazakhstan, Argentina and the European Union (EU).
Speaking to the AA, Dr. Birol Akgun said that Turkish exports of flour have increased recently after new connections.
According to the International Grains Council (IGC), the total flour production in the term 2008-2009 is expected to be 10.9 million tonnes, Akgun said.
The most important development in IGC's calculations of flour production is that Turkey has increased its flour production by 400,000 tonnes in the most recent term, Akgun noted.
Turkey's flour exports in 2008-2009 is expected to be 1.7 million tonnes, Akgun said.
Iraq and Indonesia are the most important markets for Turkish exports of flour, Akgun also said.
