Turkey renovates and modernize museums

ANKARA (A.A) - November 28, 2011 - Turkish Culture & Tourism Ministry started to renovate and modernize museums all around the country. The ministry renovated and re-opened 16 museums in Turkey by October, whereas Elmali Museum (Antalya), Bafra Museum (Samsun), Zeugma Museum (Gaziantep), Hittite Archeology Museum (Eskisehir) and Miletus Museum (Aydin) have started to receive visitors. The 16 renovated museums are Aksaray Museum, Sanliurfa Museum, Istanbul Hagia Sophia Museum Sultan Ibrahim Tomb and Sultan Mustafa I Tomb, Bergama Museum (small artifacts hall), Elazig Museum, Corum Bogazkoy Museum, Corum Alacahoyuk Museum, Manisa Museum (ethnography section), Adana Museum (garden, stone artifacts hall), Yalvac Museum St. Paul Hall, Konya Ataturk Museum, Tokat Latifoglu Museum, Topkapi Palace Museum Arms Section, Topkapi Palace Museum (Sunnet Mansion, Sofa Mosque Arm Section).  The ministry plans to open Bursa Archeology Museum, Burdur Museum, Erzurum Turkish and Islamic Artifacts Museum, Tekirdag Archeoglogy and Ethnography Museum, Manisa Akhisar Museum, Topkapi Palace Museum (Karamustafa Pasa Mansion, Revan Mansion, Mecidiye Towers), Konya Mevlana Museum (Dervish Cells) and Istanbul Galata Mevlehinanesi Museum by the end of 2011.  As of October 2011, 189 museums, 141 tombs, 131 ruins are open to visitors in Turkey.
