Turkey wins two medals in World Indoor Championship in Istanbul

ISTANBUL (A.A) - March 11, 2012 - Turkish athletes won one silver and one bronze medal in the second of the 14th World Indoor Championship in Athletics in Istanbul on Saturday. These medals were the first ever of Turkey in indoor championships. Turkey's Ilham Tanui Ozbilenup won silver medal in the 1,500 meter event in the World Indoor Championship. Meanwhile, Turkish athlete Asli Cakir Alptekin won bronze medal in the women's 1,500 meter race in the championship. In the second day of the championship, the United States was ranked the first with five gold, two silver and three bronze medals. Turkey was ranked the 13th with one silver and one bronze medal in the second day of the championship.
