Turkey's unemployment rate drops 2.2 points

ANKARA (A.A) - November 15, 2011 - Turkey's unemployment rate dropped 2.2 points to 9.2 percent in August period of 2011 when compared to the same period of 2010. The number of employed people increased 1.6 million to 24.8 million in August period (July-August-September) of 2011 when compared to the same period of 2010, according to figures of TurkStat, Turkey's statistical authority. Unemployment in urban areas was posted as 11.6 percent, while it was 4.7 percent in rural areas in the mentioned period. The number of unemployed people decreased 450,000 to 2.5 million in August period of 2011.
