Turkish Airlines begins flights to Somalia

ISTANBUL (A.A) - March 6, 2012 - Turkish Airlines (THY) has begun flights to capital Mogadishu of Somalia on Tuesday. Turkish Deputy Premier Bekir Bozdag, THY Director General Temel Kotil and Turkish Cooperation & Coordination Agency Administration (TIKA) Chairman Serdar Cam were among the first passengers of the plane which took off from Istanbul's Ataturk Airport. Flights will be held from Ataturk Airport on Tuesdays and Thursdays to Mogadishu, and from Mogadishu on Wednesdays and Fridays to Istanbul.  THY's number of international flights has reached 150 with Mogadishu. THY is the national flag carrier airline of Turkey, headquartered in Istanbul. It operates scheduled services to 150 international and 41 domestic cities (38 domestic airports), serving a total of 187 airports, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
