Turkish Airlines sets a new strategy for Balkans

NEW YORK (A.A) - Turkish national air carrier, Turkish Airlines (THY) held a meeting in New York to inform its office directors about the airlines' new strategy on Balkans. THY Marketing and Selling Department deputy chairman Mehmet Baspinar, THY's director in New York Ihsan Baytan, Turkey's Consul General in New York Levent Bilgen and other officials attended the meeting at Pennsylvania Hotel. A promotional film about THY was screened in the meeting. THY's director in New York Baytan said that the people of Balkan origin living in the United States were the target group in this strategy. "THY has been growing in the United States gradually. THY opened new destinations such as Washington and Los Angeles. We want U.S. citizens of Balkan origin to prefer THY and we are working for it," he said. Bilgen said THY was one of the important establishments representing Turkey in the world in the best way. Speaking to AA correspondent, THY Marketing Deputy Chairman Baspinar said THY was eager to get share from the market between the United States and Balkans. THY would fly from the United States to Balkans via Istanbul as of this summer, he said. Turkish Airlines is the national flag carrier airline of Turkey, headquartered in Istanbul. It operates scheduled services to 146 international and 41 domestic cities (38 domestic airports), serving a total of 187 airports, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.  THY carried 32.6 million passengers in January-December, 2011.
