Turkish chef breaks Guinness record with 1,068-meter cake

SHANGHAI (A.A) - December 1, 2011 - A Turkish chef broke Guinness record with his 1,068-meter cake in Shanghai, China. A Turkish chef at a Shanghai hotel, Yusuf Yaran, made the longest new year cake, breaking the Guinness record. Yaran overtook last year's longest new year cake record. Last year, a 208.8 meter new year cake won the title in France.  "150 people have worked around the clock to make this cake," Yaran told AA correspondent. Yaran said they used 633 liters of cream, 401 kilograms of chocolate, 904 eggs, 204 kilograms of sugar, 1,004 kilograms of wheat flour, and 34 kilograms of vanilla to make the cake. The income to be earned from the sale of cake will be donated to children receiving chemotherapy at Shanghai children's hospital.
