Turkish company to take part in construction of power plant in Kazakhstan

Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 19 By Elena Kosolapova – Trend: Turkish company Eren Enerji Elektrik Uretim AS will take part in the construction of Turgaisk power plant in Kazakhstan. The company signed corresponding Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on the project of the power plant with Kazakh National Mining Company Tau-Ken Samruk on December 19, the Kazakh company said. The project is implemented to fulfill the Kazakh President's instructions to build the infrastructure in the framework of the Concept of Development of fuel and energy complex of Kazakhstan until 2030. This memorandum envisages joint implementation of the project on the construction of the power plant on the basis of Kushmurun coal deposit in Kazakh Kostanai region. Currently Turkish Eren Enerji develops a preliminary feasibility study of the project. Tau-Ken Samruk and Eren Enerji plan to create a joint venture to build power plant and develop coal deposit. Implementation of the project will ensure meeting of electricity demand in Kostanai and Aktobe regions, and will enhance the reliability of the power grid of Kazakhstan. The Memorandum was signed by Eren Enerji’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Ahmet Eren and Chairman of the Board of Turkish company Sembol Fettah Tamince and by Chairman of the Board of Tau-Ken Samruk Mazhit Turmagambetov.
