Turkish Cypriot president meets UN secretary general's special adviser

LEFKOSA (A.A) - President Dervis Eroglu of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) met UN secretary general's special adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer in Lefkosa on Tuesday. After the meeting, Downer told reporters that they discussed in the meeting the steps that would be taken. There was need for progress within the scope of the Cyprus issue, he said. Asked whether or not talks would be intensified, Downer said, "proposals are more important than intensified talks. What is important is to make effective proposals in the process."
