Turkish Cypriot president says New York meeting a chance for an agreement

LIMASSOL (A.A) - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Dervis Eroglu has said they considered the tripartite meeting to be held in New York on January 22-24 a chance that could lead to an agreement. Eroglu met with Nikos Anastasiadis, leader of the main opposition Democratic Rally Party in the Greek Cypriot administration, over dinner in Limassol on Sunday. After the gathering, Eroglu told reporters that preparations were under way for the New York meeting and both parties should make good use of the meeting. Anastasiadis said that a solution that would be approved by both sides must be found. Eroglu said he believed that both parties would say 'yes' in a referendum on an agreement that would be approved by both sides. The fact of two peoples and two different democracies must be accepted for a lasting solution in Cyprus, he said.
