Turkish Cypriot president: UN secretary general saw unwillingness of Greek Cypriots

ISTANBUL (A.A) - President Dervis Eroglu of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said that United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon saw the Greek Cypriot side's unwillingness for a solution in Cyprus issue. Eroglu arrived in Turkey after completing his talks in Greentree, New York on Friday. Noting that the fifth meeting of trilateral Cyprus summit was completed, Eroglu said that Ban asked parties to focus on "citizenship", "share of power in management" and "property" topics during the summit. We made our preparations and set our proposals before we went to Greentree, however, Greek Cypriot party said it should assess the issue in Cyprus after the summit, said Eroglu. Despite this attitude, we presented our proposals, which were adopted by Ban and the delegation during the summit, but we could not receive any proposals from Greek Cypriot party, said Eroglu. Eroglu said that Ban would invite them to a conference which would be participated by three guarantors according to a report that would be presented by Alexander Downer, his special adviser on Cyprus, in March or April. Eroglu said that Greek Cypriot side objected this plan too, however, Ban was determined in this issue. Secretary General Ban saw the unwillingness of Greek Cypriot side, added Eroglu.
