Turkish deputy premier says Kurdish can be taught as elective course

ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc has said that Kurdish could only be taught as an elective course. But it was not possible to give an education in Kurdish from primary school to university, Arinc said at a program on news channel CNN Turk on Friday. "It's easy to give a right, but we will follow its implementation as well," he said. Replying to a question on steps that will be taken in the coming period, Arinc said that they never slowed down steps for democratization and freedoms. Answering a question, Arinc said that they were continuing their fight against terrorism, adding that but the government was also taking several economic, social and political measures that would embrace the people.
