Turkish dignitaries sign condolence notebook for Denktas

LEFKOSA (A.A) - January 17, 2012 - Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek, Chairman of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Kemal Kilicdaroglu and Chief of Turkish General Staff Gen. Necdet Ozel offered condolences to the spouse of the late former Turkish Cypriot President Rauf Denktas, Aydin Denktas, in Lefkosa on Tuesday. Signing the condolence notebook for Rauf Denktas, President Gul said that the death of Denktas was a great loss for the whole Turkish world. Motherland Turkey share the deep pain of its Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters over Denktas's demise. Rauf Denktas and his colleagues have earned the hearts of the Turkish nation with their struggle in Cyprus, Gul said. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will always find Motherland Turkey on its side in this honorable struggle, Gul also said. Signing the condolence notebook, Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek said that the struggle made in the national cause will be continued in harmony with Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters. CHP's Kilicdaroglu wrote in the condolence notebook that "we revere today with respect". Also signing the condolence notebook, General Ozel wrote that the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) will help the TRNC, "your dear memory", live on forever.
