Turkish doctors inform Somali mothers on importance of breast milk

MOGADISHU (A.A) - January 29, 2012 - Turkish obstetricians and gynecologists serving in field hospitals in Somali capital of Mogadishu inform Somali mothers on the importance of breast milk. Speaking to the AA, an obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Mehmet Gokcu said that they treat around 120 patients a day. Many of our patients come as being pregnant or after suffering a miscarriage, Dr. Gokcu said. On the average, each woman in Mogadishu has seven children. The ages of mothers range from 12 to 82, Dr. Gokcu said. In order to improve the health of mothers and children, we emphasize the importance of breast milk, Dr. Gokcu also said.
