ANKARA (A.A) - November 14, 2011 - Turkish dailies mostly covered in their Monday issues the note given to Syria by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and funeral ceremonies held for two staff members of Dogan News Agency (DHA) who were killed in last Wednesday's earthquake in the eastern province of Van. Commenting on Turkey's note to Syria, Cumhuriyet, Hurriyet and Vatan dailies said that Turkey's note came after groups of Syrians attacked the Turkish Embassy in Damascus, Turkish Consulate General in Aleppo and Turkish Honorary Consulate General in Latakia on Saturday. According to the dailies, Turkey strongly condemned the attacks on its missions and asked the Syrian government to arrest the assailants. The attacks on Turkish missions occurred after a decision taken by the Arab League on Syrian membership. Dailies also highlighted funeral ceremonies held for two staff members of Dogan News Agency who were killed in last Wednesday's earthquake in the eastern province of Van. Hurriyet daily said that thousands of people were in tears in Erzurum province where correspondent Sebahattin Yilmaz was laid to rest and in Tunceli province where Cem Emir was laid to rest. Cumhuriyet daily said that Yilmaz and Emir worked until the last second of their lives in Van. Yilmaz and Emir had come to Van after a powerful earthquake hit the province on October 23.
