ANKARA (A.A) - November 21, 2011 - Turkish dailies mostly covered on their Monday editions Turkish President Abdullah Gul's statements regarding the current situation in Syria as well as his statements regarding the new constitution, and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's interview with the British Sunday Times. Almost all newspapers wrote about Turkish President Gul's statements aboard the plane en route to British capital of London. Sabah daily quoted Gul as saying regarding developments in Syria that Syria was in dead end and Turkey supported decision of the Arab League. Milliyet daily quoted Gul as saying that they did not have any confidence in Syrian government. Radikal daily also quoted Gul as saying that they were against a military operation against Syria. "I will fight till I die" headlined Hurriyet daily and wrote about Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's interview to the British Sunday Times. The daily quoted al-Assad as telling the Sunday Times that he would personally fight and die to resist foreign forces, stating that "whenever you have militants you have killings so the role of the government is to fight the militants in order to restore stability and to protect the civilians."  Zaman daily said that Turkey pays a historic visit to Britain at the presidential level, quoted Gul as saying that if a new constitution was not prepared, there would be a big disappointment. "A new constitution can be prepared if a political conflict does not take place," Zaman quoted Gul as saying.
