Twenty Iranian celebs named WFP partners

TEHRAN,Oct.15(MNA) – A group of 20 Iranian popular figures were selected as celebrity partners of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) during a ceremony in Tehran on Sunday. The director of the WFP Country Office in Iran, Negar Gerami, awarded the celebs certificates during the ceremony, which was held at the National Library and Archives of Iran. Actresses Katayun Rihai, Homa Rusta, Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Golab Adineh, and Mahnaz Afshar, actors Reza Kianian and Parviz Parastuii, ex-football star Ali Daei, vocalist Homayun Shajarian, pop star Khashayar Etemadi, and writer Hushang Moradi Kermani are among the celebs. They will help the United Nations World Food Program fight hunger among the children in the famine stricken regions of the world. The World Food Program is the food assistance branch of the United Nations, and it is the world’s largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger. On average, WFP provides food to 90 million people each year, 58 million of whom are children. It is a member of the United Nations Development Group and part of its executive committee.
