Two geologists killed in tunnel collapse in Thai North

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, March 2 (TNA) - Two geologists were killed when a part of water diversion tunnel of a dam project in Chiang Mai Province in the Thai North collapsed on Thursday morning. The incident occurred when a team of geologists was inspecting the tunnel construction site of the Mae Kuang Dam Project in Chiang Mai’s Mae Taeng District. The geologists found water leaks and rock falls, but the duo failed to escape and were killed by the falling rocks. The other geologist could flee and survived the tunnel collapse. The area has been cordoned off and the two bodies were sent for autopsy at Mae Taeng Hospital. The water diversion tunnel has been dug for about 600 metres inside a mountain so far. (TNA)
