Two Iranian films honored in Oriental festival of Geneva

TEHRAN,Apr.17(MNA) – Two Iranian films “Parviz” and “Pomegranates Are the Fruit of Paradise” have received honorable mentions in two different sections of the 9th International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva. “Parviz” received the honorable mention in the critics section, and “Pomegranates Are the Fruit of Paradise” was presented the honor in the short film section, the organizers announced on April 13. “Parviz”, directed by Majid Barzegar, is about a man named Parviz who is in his fifties and has lived his entire life in his father’s home and has never had a job. His quiet routine suddenly comes apart when his father decides to remarry and tells him to move out. Directed by Teimur Qaderi, the short film “Pomegranates Are the Fruit of Paradise” is about a little girl named Shadi who is being taught by her friend Saeid since her parents do not let her to go to school. The festival ran in several cities including Geneva, Versoix and Lausanne from April 4 to 13. The International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva is supported by Geneva’s Department of Culture and Sports and several other significant organizations. It aims to promote cinema, cultural dialogue and diversity.
