Two people wounded in explosions at rally site

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) - An explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit on Sunday (May 11) has inspected the protest site near Government House after an explosion left two people injured last night. The explosive devices initially believed to be M 79 grenades hit the rally site of the Network of Students and People for the Reform of Thailand (NSPRT) around 11 pm. A man, Narongchai Leesirirungroj, and Mrs Issarawan Srikhlai were wounded in their necks by shrapnel and sent to hospital. The explosion also damaged public telephone booths and three cars. A guard in charge of providing security at the rally site said the incidents occurred in heavy and no one saw the suspect’s vehicle. The Erawan Emergency Medical Centre reported Saturday (May 10)’s explosions raised the number of the injured in Thailand’s political turbulence since May 30, 2013 to 760 while the death toll stays at 22.
