Two SAM Exco Members Enlisted In AIPS Asia Committee

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- The Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) was given further recognition at the Asian level when three main leaders were appointed to sit in the Asian Sportswriters Association (AIPS Asia) committee. After its president, Ahmad Khawari Isa was elected to take one of the Vice-President seats at the Asia AIPS Congress in Bahrain last February, two other SAM exco members were appointed to sit in one of the association's seven committees. According to a SAM press release Friday, the appointment was the result of a consensus achieved following the first AIPS Asia Executive Committee meeting held on Feb 13 in Manama, Bahrain. "In addition to the vice-president post, Ahmad Khawari was also appointed to chair the AIPS Asia Awards Committee, while SAM vice-president Norismadi Abd Manap was appointed a committee member. "The other committee members are from from South Korea, Pakistan, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Qatar," SAM secretary-general, Faisal Jamal said in the statement. Meanwhile, Faisal was also appointed to sit in the AIPS Asia Media Committee which comprises members from India, Nepal, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Mongolia and headed by a Sri Lankan representive. -- BERNAMA
