Two Thai nationals arrive home from Yemen

BANGKOK, April 5 (TNA) - Two Thai students have safety arrived in Thailand from conflict-ridden Yemen, according to the Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry. The students arrived at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport early Sunday and were welcomed by Vosita Vorasaph, deputy director-general of the ministry’s Consular Affairs Department, and several high-ranking officials from the Social Development and Human Security Ministry. Vosita said his ministry would assist Thai nationals in returning home from Yemen on a voluntary basis. He said about 40 Thai nationals have expressed their desire to leave Yemen and they are expected to be brought back to Thailand in the near future. The two students said there are still more than 200 Thais living in Yemen. Sek Wannamethee, director-general of the ministry’s Information Department, had said earlier that officials were evacuating Thai students from Yemen through many channels to Salalah city in Oman, where they would receive shelter and food arranged by the Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat.
