Two Thai workers killed, six colleagues injured in a traffic accident in Israel

BANGKOK, May 13 (TNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that two Thai workers were killed and six others were injured in a road accident in Israel on May 12. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sek Wannamethee, who is also Director-General of the ministry's Department of Information told journalists on Wednesday (May 13) that the incident took place when the Thai workers' transport tractor was hit by a truck on Highway 40 in Ashdod in the southern part of Israel's Central Plain, about 40 kilometers from Tel Aviv. The spokesman said among the injured, two were seriously wounded and all of them were treated at local hospitals where staff of the Thai Embassy to Israel has visited them. According to the spokesman, the Thai Embassy in Israel is contacting employers of the eight Thai workers to arrange for compensation and treatment for the injured. Besides, his ministry's Department of Consular Affairs is coordinating the return of the bodies and the injured to Thailand and also the medical treatment with their relatives. (TNA)
