Two Thais leave Yemen safely

BANGKOK, April 2 (TNA) - Two Thai students from Yemen's Al Hudaydah Town have safely arrived at the Yemeni-Saudi Arabian border, while more Thai officials will be deployed on April 3 to carry out the evacuation of more Thai nationals from violence-plagued Yemen. Thai Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sek Wannamethee, who is also Director-General of the ministry's Department of Information, quoted the Thai Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital, as reporting that the two Thai students travelled by a vehicle with Indonesians and arrived safely at the Yemeni-Saudi Arabian border on Wednesday night (local time), after they received protection from Yemeni soldiers along the way. The spokesman said officials of the Thai Embassy in Riyadh provided the two evacuees with immigration service, accommodation and food. According to the spokesman, three more Thai students informed the Thai Embassy in Muscat, Oman's capital, of their intention to leave Yemen for Thailand, raising the number of Thai people seeking the evacuation to 13, including the two students, who have already reached the Yemeni-Saudi Arabian border. The spokesman stated that the Thai Embassies in the Middle East will send more staffs to support the evacuation of Thai citizens from Yemen, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will deploy two officials from its Department of Consular Affairs in Oman for the same mission and the two officials will leave for Oman on April 3.
