Two Workers Killed In Jambi's Illegal Gold Mining Accident

Jambi, Oct 14 (Antara) - A landslide occurred at an illegal gold mining area of Muara Bantan Village, Renap Pembarap Subdistrict, Merangin District, Jambi Province, on Monday, killing two workers, a police officer said. "The two victims died at the scene. They are identified as Nursiah binti Yatim (45) and Dariah binti Najal (48)," Jambi Police Chief Brig. Gen. Bambang Sudarisman said here Tuesday. The landslide happened when the ill-fated workers were digging up a piece of land at the edge of a cliff. As a result, they were buried and died of serious injuries, he said adding that the local residents operating the illegal gold mine should take a lesson from the deadly accident. The police have questioned three witnesses for investigation, he said.
