UAE Consulate in Barcelona launches Ramadan Iftar project sponsored by Khalifa Foundation

CATALONIA: Salem Rashid Al Owais, Consul General of the UAE in Barcelona, Spain, has launched the Ramadan Iftar project, being implemented by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation in Hijri 1436. The launch of the project, overseen by the UAE Consulate General in Barcelona, was attended by the representatives of the Catalonia Government, federal officials, Muslim dignitaries and representatives of Muslim community. Beneficiaries of the project thanked the Khalifa Foundation for helping the needy Muslims during the Holy Month of Ramadan. As part of the programme this year, 13 tonnes of foodstuff will be distributed to needy Muslims in the Catalonia region, besides a number of Iftar meals that will be organised at mosques and Islamic centres. The largest Muslim community in Spain lives in the Catalonia region, representing 7 per cent, or about 540,000 of the total population.
