UAE grants 22 heavy snow removal machines to Jordan

Abu Dhabi: The UAE has provided 22 heavy machines for snow removal to Jordan, at a cost of more than Dh 15.500 million. The gesture comes as per directives of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in order to help Jordanian people, who are currently experiencing harsh weather conditions, affecting various aspects of the population's life living conditions, resulted by the accumulation of snow on highways and main places. The directives reflect the existing strong relations between the two fraternal peoples, thanks to the keenness of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Majesty Abdullah II, King of Jordan on boosting them in various domains. The initiative comes in the light of the U.A.E's contribution to supporting the Jordanians to overcome the exceptional weather conditions, facilitate transportation, alleviate their economic and social repercussions and ensure safety of roads users. The heavy machines will work on removing snow from main roads to be opened to make transportation easier and safer. They also represent an important support to civil defence authorities in Jordan to counter any predictable weather conditions. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
