UAE hosts ‘Emirati Woman: Distinction and Innovation’ Conference in March

Abu Dhabi, 18th February, 2016 (WAM) - The UAE will host the 2016 ‘Emirati Woman Conference: Distinction and Innovation’ on March 8th under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. First of its kind in the country and the region to address women’s innovations, the conference will honour a number of leading citizens, including 10 female university students who came up with distinctive innovations. It will also include a special artistic operetta, entitled ‘Kabira Yal Imarat,’ written by poet Abdullah bin Shamma, in which a number of famous artists will participate. It has been composed by Fayez Al Saeed, directed by Dr. Habib Ghuloom, and will be performed by Samira Ahmad and the Ornina Band. Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Chairman of the Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA), revealed during a recent press conference that the ‘Emirati Woman Conference’ will be held at the Emirates Palace. It will be organised by the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the General Women's Union, and the EIPA. The conference will coincide with International Women’s Day to highlight Emirati women’s innovations, he said. He added, "The organisation of the ‘Emirati Woman Conference’ is aligned with the national innovation strategy, which aims to transform the UAE into one of the most inventive countries internationally over the next seven years, and was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. This conference is also being held within the framework of the national strategy to empower women and increase their innovation capacities between 2015 and 2021, launched by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima." The conference, the idea of which originated from the EIPA, according to Major General Al Obaidly, will address the means, dimensions and recommendations of the Emirati women’s creations and innovations. It will include an artistic operetta and a presentation of various women’s experiences in creation and innovation. It will also honour a number of leading female citizens, including 10 female university students in their final years, who presented distinctive inventions among a number of candidates. He added that the conference will discuss major topics with leading personalities from the public and private sector. A number of women will participate in the conference sessions by presenting their involvement in innovation.
