Ugandan President to pay official visit to Thailand Nov 15-17

BANGKOK, November 9 (TNA) - Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is scheduled to pay an official visit to Thailand at the invitation of the Thai government from November 15-17, aimed to boost bilateral relations and cooperation and to explore more trade and investment opportunities with Thailand. The Thai government will organize a ceremony to officially welcome the Ugandan President at Bangkok's Government House on November 16, after which the Ugandan President and Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will, among others, discuss bilateral and regional relations and cooperation on trade, investment and development. The Thai prime minister will then host a dinner party for the Ugandan President and his entourage, which includes a group of business operators, at the Thai government seat that evening. It will be the first official visit to Thailand by the top Ugandan leader since Thailand and the East African nation established their diplomatic relations in 1985, although the incumbent Ugandan President earlier visited Thailand twice, first for a private visit in September 2003 and the other for the 15th International AIDS Conference in Bangkok in July 2004. The upcoming trip to Thailand by the Ugandan President is expected to further boost bilateral and multilateral cooperation for the benefits of both countries and to be a basis for strengthened relations between their people in the future. Meanwhile, the group of Ugandan business operators will also hold talks with their Thai counterparts and visit successful Thai companies and factories to seek more opportunities for mutual trade and investment.
