U.Khurelsukh attending Disaster Risk Reduction conference in New Delhi

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh is taking part in the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) 2016, being held in New Delhi. The conference joined representatives of 39 countries, of which 34 are at the ministerial level. Credit for the first presentation was given to Mr U.Khurelsukh. He presented the government actions and policies toward reducing disaster risks. Chairman of the National Emergency Management Agency Brigadier General B.Badral and the deputy chairman Ts.Ganzorig chaired panel sessions, while the adviser to the Deputy Premier L.Sayanaa gave a presentation at a panel session on Project on Improving Disaster Resistance of Erdenet and Darkhan Cities. The three-day conference is to resulted in releasing the New Delhi Declaration and the Asian Program on Implementing the Sendai Program of Action. Asia is home to about 60 percent of the world population and has high vulnerability rate (88%) for disasters such as earthquakes, tsunami, typhoons, flood, dzud and drought. Disasters are a cross-boundary challenge. Therefore the representatives of governments of the continent are assembling in quest of better ways of the disaster risk reduction.
