UMCIC To Hold University Start-Up Conference Malaysia 2015

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaya's Centre of Innovation and Commercialisation (UMCIC) is organising a "University Start-Up Conference Malaysia 2015" (UStart2015) on Jan 20, 2015. Themed "Creating Economic and Social Impact through University Startups", the two-day conference aims to highlight the university's efforts in innovating and commercialising research and development outputs through the establishment of start-ups companies. "It will also showcase technology start-ups, interactive panel discussions in university technology transfer and provide business networking and investor matching opportunities," UMCIC said in a statement. In line with Malaysia's intention to host UStartAsean next year, the conference will take the lead in exploring the possibility of setting up an Asean University Start-up network to open new avenues of technical cooperation between member countries. The event, to be held at Pullman Kuala Lumpur, will be launched by the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre Chairman, Dr Irwan Siregar Abdullah. -- BERNAMA
