UMP Collaborates With Germany's HsKA For Double-Degree Programme

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- The University of Malaysia, Pahang (UMP) on Wednesday signed an agreement with Germany's Karlsruhe University of Applied Science (HsKA) to offer a new double-degree programme, Masters in Automotive Engineering. UMP vice-chancellor Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim said UMP had previously collaborated with HsKA to offer the double-degree Bachelor in Automotive Engineering and the Bachelor in Mechatronic Engineering five years ago. He said the success of the first double degree programme had led to the signing of the agreement for the second programme between the two institutions. "The UMP is always looking at adding value to the engineering programmes by continually benchmarking them against world-class models including academic collaborative programmes with the HsKA," he said at the signing ceremony here. UMP was represented by Daing Nasir while the HsKA by its rector, Professor Dr Karl Heinz Meisel. The ceremony was witnessed by the German ambassador to Malaysia, Holger Wilfried Michael and UMP lecturers. Daing Nasir said at present 65 students were taking the double-degree Bachelor in Mechatronic Engineering programme and 42 the Bachelor in Automotive Engineering at UMP. The University of Malaysia, Pahang is a Malaysian government university. --BERNAMA
