UN SG's Special Adviser on Cyprus Downer meets Greek Cypriot leader Christofias

LEFKOSA (A.A) - United Nations Secretary General's Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer met the Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters following his meeting with Christofias, Downer said that he held a very constructive meeting with Christofias. We discussed issues pertaining to the process following the second Greentree meeting, Downer noted. Reminded by journalists that certain Greek Cypriot political parties declared him "persona non grata", Downer said that it would not be right for him to get involved in political debates. Answering a question on his not being "objective" in Cyprus, Downer said that the UN focused on the contents of the negotiations and so should the Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots. Alexander Downer held a meeting with the Turkish Cypriot President Dervis Eroglu in Lefkosa on Tuesday.
