UN WFP hopes to intensify cooperation with Russia

MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) hopes to intensify cooperation with Russia in order to meet the requirements of all people suffering from hunger in different world regions, UN WFP Executive Director Ertharim Ertharin Cousin said on Tuesday. She took part in a ceremony of handing over Russia’s KAMAZ trucks to the UN WFP. The agreement on strategic partnership between the Russian government and the UN WFP stresses the importance for cooperation in fighting hunger on the planet. “On behalf of 14,000 staff members I laud this contribution, which will help us provide aid to the population in vulnerable world areas,” she said. Cousin said the UN WFP and the Russian Emergencies Ministry cooperated for more than 20 years. She expressed hope that cooperation would be intensified to meet the requirements of all people suffering from hunger. Cousin called for ending hunger all round the world. To this end, cooperation with all states and governments is indispensable, Cousin said. Read more
