UNAMI Welcomes The Ratification Of The Election Results, Calls Politicians To Agree On A Comprehensive Security Plan To Counter Terrorism

BAGHDAD / NINA / The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Nikolai Miladinov welcomed the ratification of the Federal Court to the results of the parliamentary elections that took place in 30, April. A statement of the UN mission in Iraq / UNAMI / quoted Miladinov as saying, "after the ratification of the election results, the newly elected Council of Representatives is imperative to ensure the continuity of the political process in accordance with the Constitution." He called on political leaders to "agree on a national security plan to address the terrorist threat through a set of comprehensive political and social initiatives to be include all parties in the country," stressing that "the United Nations stands ready to facilitate those negotiations."
