Undersecretaries of GCC Ministries of Industry Meet in Doha

Doha, May 06 (QNA) - Qatar hosted on Wednesday a meeting for the undersecretaries of the GCC ministries of industry attended by undersecretaries of GCC ministries of industry and a delegation of the GCC General Secretariat. A press release issued by the Ministry of Energy and Industry said that the meeting, which was chaired by Director of the Ministry's Industrial Development Department Eng Saeed Mubarak Al Kuwari, discussed a number of topics, including the General Secretariat's memo on study for the non-oil exports development strategy in the GCC countries, a proposal to establish a committee to be responsible for business initiatives and pioneers as well as small and medium enterprises innovation, and an amendment to the GCC unified industrial law. The meeting also followed up on the implementation of the decisions and recommendations of the 39th industrial cooperation committee meeting in Riyadh in October 2014, the recommendations on localizing railway and metro industries in the GCC countries, and specifying the date of the 4th conference for GCC businessmen and their counterparts in India. It also reviewed a memo of Kuwait Public Industry Authority about 15th GCC industrialists conference scheduled for 25 November 2015 in Kuwait. In conclusion, the meeting discussed the annual report of the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) on its activities and achievements during its work plan for 2014. The meeting serves as a preparation for the 40th industrial cooperation committee meeting of the GCC ministers of industry, due to be held in Doha on 21 May. (QNA)
